What is Laduree?
Laduree is a patisserie and tearoom in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi. Rectangle Interiors took it from concept design through construction, including the counter and the fitted joinery. Delivering in Abu Dhabi meant working to that emirate's own approvals and access rules.
Designed and built by one team.
Ladurée is a Paris house with a fixed visual identity, and a Yas Mall location has to reproduce it rather than reinterpret it. Where the brand specifies a finish, the job is to source and execute it exactly, in a market that does not always carry it.
Holding the brand's detailing meant making the joinery and the display work ourselves, within an interior and fit-out delivered in Abu Dhabi.
Reproducing a fixed house identity in another emirate means the specification is set in Paris and the approvals are set in Abu Dhabi, and the two have to be reconciled before the unit is built. Yas Mall adds its own fit-out guidelines and handover date.
The pastry display, the counter and the decorative joinery were made in our own workshop to the brand's drawings.
