What is Levantine?
Levantine is a restaurant in Atlantis Hotel, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. Rectangle Interiors took it from concept design through construction, including the bar and the bespoke millwork. The work was carried out inside an operating property, in the access windows it allowed.
Designed and built by one team.
Levantine sits in the Atlantis on Palm Jumeirah, a resort that runs at volume. A restaurant inside it has to hold its own character while working within a property whose operational standards and guest flow are already set.
We were responsible for the interior and the construction, including the fitted joinery, and the programme was coordinated with the resort's operations rather than set independently of them.
A restaurant inside a resort running at volume has to absorb peaks without the room feeling pressured, so circulation and service routes are planned for the busiest hour rather than the average one. Access for the build is set by the property.
The bar, the banquettes and the fitted joinery were made in our workshop and installed during the windows the resort allowed.
