What is Miss Tess?
Miss Tess is a restaurant in Taj Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai. Rectangle Interiors took it from concept design through construction, including the bar and the bespoke millwork. The work was carried out inside an operating property, in the access windows it allowed.
Designed and built by one team.
Miss Tess sits inside the Taj in Business Bay. A restaurant within a hotel is bound by the property's standards and its operating hours, and the build has to be phased around a business that keeps trading throughout.
Coordination ran through the hotel's operations team as well as the restaurant's, across the interior, the construction and the millwork.
Inside a hotel the restaurant inherits the property's operating rules — service routes, delivery times and noise limits are all the hotel's to set — and the fit-out is planned around a building that never closes.
The bar, the decorative screens and the fitted seating were made in our workshop and installed as finished units inside the property's access windows.
