What is Galvin Bistro & Bar?
Galvin Bistro & Bar is a restaurant in City Walk, Al Safa, Dubai. Rectangle Interiors took it from concept design through construction, including the bar and the bespoke millwork. Work in a managed community runs to the developer's approvals and contractor access rules.
Designed and built by one team.
Galvin is a London restaurant family, and the City Walk site is a bistro and bar rather than a formal dining room. That distinction shows up in the plan, where the bar has to hold its own trade and not simply serve the tables.
City Walk's landlord fit-out requirements set the programme as much as the construction did; the interior ran from design to opening, bar joinery and fitted furniture included.
A bistro and bar under one roof are two operations sharing a kitchen, so the plan has to let the bar trade late without the restaurant feeling emptied. City Walk also sets its own delivery and working-hours rules for tenants.
The bar front, the banquettes and the fitted joinery came out of our workshop, which is where the two halves of the room are given a common language.
