What is Kcal Restaurant?
Kcal Restaurant is a health-food store in Al Barsha - Dubai. Rectangle Interiors took it from concept design through construction, including the counter and the fitted joinery. Design, fit-out and joinery were delivered by a single in-house team.

Kcal is a health-food brand with a small-footprint store format, so the fit-out is about getting a complete kitchen, counter and seating offer into a modest unit without any of the three being compromised.
Everything fitted, counter included, was made in our own workshop as part of an interior and fit-out delivered in Al Barsha.
A small-footprint format leaves no slack: the kitchen, the counter and the seating all have to fit a unit that was not designed for them, and every centimetre given to one is taken from another. Extraction is usually the constraint that settles the plan.
The kitchen, counter and seating were set out together rather than in sequence, because in a unit this size a decision on one immediately takes space from the others.
