At around 4,500 square feet this is a family villa rather than an estate, and that size is arguably the harder brief: there is enough room to be generous but not enough to be wasteful, so every decision about storage and circulation shows.
The work ran from space planning through to furniture, with the joinery made for the actual openings rather than to a nominal size.
At this size every room has to earn its place, so the storage is designed into the plan rather than added at the end, and the rooms that get generosity are the ones the family actually uses daily. Nothing is left as circulation for its own sake.
Wardrobes, kitchen and the fitted storage were made to measured dimensions in our workshop, which is where the usable difference in a house of this scale is found.
